Nongpoh, June 04: Ri-Bhoi Dorbar in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner,Ri-Bhoi District today the 4th of June celebrated the 30 years of Ri-Bhoi District at the District Library Hall, Nongpoh.
The 30 years of Ri-Bhoi District celebration began at 7:00 AM with a marathon known as the 10 KMs Ri-Bhoi Day Run starting from St.John Secondary School, Jyntru to NSCA, Indoor Stadium, Umlyngkdait, Nongpoh. Prizes to winners were also distributed to winners in different categories of the marathon.
The programme continued again at 11:00 AM at the Districts Library Hall with awards being distributed to male and female sportspersons of Ri-Bhoi District who have brought name and honour in the recently concluded Meghalaya Games organised by the MSOA in Shillong in sports which include Basketball, Football, Athletic, Judo, Wushu and others.
At the programme, awards were also distributed for the Best Performing ASHA, Best Performing Anganwadi, Best Performing Village Organisation, Best Performing IVCS Ri-Bhoi District, Cleanest Tea Shop in the District and the Cleanest Village which was won by Ïamkhon village. On this day traditional dance and song performances were also performed by the Khasi Traditional Music Department,Ri-Bhoi College and All Meghalaya Karbi Association.
The special celebration programme was attended by Mayralborn Syiem,MLA of Nongpoh constituency, Arpit Upadhyaya, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi District, Balajied Rani, MDC of Nongpoh constituency, Charles Marngar, MDC of Mawhati constituency, R.R.Makdoh, President of Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Ri-Bhoi District, Pipul Thangkhiew, President of the RBYF, R.B.Shadap, President of Ri-Bhoi Dorbar, Ploster Syiem, Vice President of Ri-Bhoi Dorbar, M.B Tongper, ADM, Ri-Bhoi District, B.Nongbet, DSO, Ri-Bhoi District, sportspersons of the District amongst others.
