Hundreds of crores will have to be spent in order to fulfill demand of teachers, Government in the process of preparing something: CM

SHILLONG, May 10: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that if the demand of the adhoc teachers is to be fulfilled,there will be a lot of expenses, which will come to hundreds of crores. He said that it is not easy to decide especially after the Covid-19 pandemic and the State will face many problems due to the financial crunch.

He said that the expenses and the financial crunch is a problem which will affect much, while adding that it cannot be foretold if taking one loan now will not affect other aspects and as such these aspects have to be looked into and it is not easy for the Government to take a decision.

With regards to the want of the adhoc teachers who are in the midst of an agitation at present to meet the Chief Minister, Sangma said that in the past years he had met several times with the teachers and also spoke about the same matters, but he expressed that it is necessary to do something concrete now, and informed that he has instructed the Department of Education to seek out means, and also informed that the department has prepared something, and after having discussed and judged the expenses, the teachers will be called for a meeting.
