SHILLONG, April 29: The Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) East Khasi Hills District, has threatened to attack Them Ïew Mawlong if the Government agrees to the demand of providing 10 acres of land for the relocation of the residents from the area.
The President of the HNYF, East Khasi Hills District, Bless Dkhar said that if the Government gives the land to the residents of Them Ïew Mawlong, then it is violating the Land Transfer Act of the State, and he said that the organisation will not allow the Government to give away land to these residents, while questioning their demand for the same.
The leader of the HNYF has also posed a question on the number of households in Them Ïew Mawlong which is upto 342, and said that the Government must go as per the Service Rule if they are employees in Government departments. He also further stated that if the residents of the area refuse to vacate the area, the Government should chase them out altogether, and added that if they are in power but cannot remove the people from the area then they must step down.
Furthermore, he said that the HNYF has prepared to attack Them Ïew Mawlong if the residents do not vacate from the area, and if the Government cannot remove them then the matter should be handed over to civil society organisations because the area is not a property of the Government but of Hima Mylliem.
