NPP helps families that were adversely affected by the cyclonic storm

On the midnight of the 26th of April, strong cyclonic storm lashed out again in many villages in Ri-Bhoi District and many households were affected in the cyclonic storm with many of their houses badly damaged.

Umwang was one of the villages which was adversely affected by the storm and about 4 families and one school were adversely affected by the strong storm which blew away the tin roofs.

The adverse effects of the storm on families led to the National People’s Party, Nongpoh Block under the leadership of the President, Plielad Tiewsoh and General Secretary,Lawrence to visit the village on the 27th of April and handed over CGI sheets to the families adversely affected by the storm.

Speaking with media persons, Plielad Tiewsoh, President of NPP Nongpoh Block said that as a party, they are filled with deep concern over the damages brought about the storm in this village. He also said that after he received information about the incident, as a President, he spoke with Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong, the candidate of the NPP from Nongpoh constituency and from her end, she readily sent over CGI sheets as contributions to the households which were distributed on this day to the affected households and the LP School.

Umwang village expressed their happiness over the gesture of the NPP which has contributed CGI sheets to the village for the families adversely affected by the lashing out of the cyclonic storm.
