SHILLONG, April 29: The Congress MLA of East Shillong who has been suspended following the unconditional support extended to the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA), Dr.M.Ampareen Lyngdoh said that she has not received any official information that the All India Congress Committee has suspended them for 3 years.
She said that as it is at present, the 5 MLAs of the Congress do not know if they are still members of the Indian National Congress, or is this just a way to stop them from contesting the elections in the 3 years. She said that at present the 5 MLAs have to wait first, if the Congress refuses them a ticket for the Assembly Election of 2023 and elections of the subsequent years, then they will have to think of another alternative.
Dr.Ampareen said that because the Congress has not removed them from the party as yet, the MLA are not in any hurry to exit from the Congress. On the other hand, she said that if the Congress cannot give a ticket them a ticket from the party to serve the people then they will have to decide on a different route which will be taken after consulting with their public supporters.
