Education without health is wasted: S.C Laloo, ADC, SWKHD

Mawkyrwat, April 20: The Office of the Sub-Divisional Medical & Medical Officer(BPMU), Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills District today organised the Block Health Mela in collaboration with the Ministries/ Government Agencies at the Sakwang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School, Sakwang,South West Khasi Hills District.

On this day, the Chief Guest was S.C.Laloo, ADC of SWKHD, Dr.F.R Lartang,DM&HO in the presence also of Dr.W.L.Narry, DIO-DSO-MCH,SWKHD, I.Lawrynniang,BDO,C&RD Block Mawkyrwat, D.B.S Mukhim, Assistant Food and Safety, Shillong, S.Kharjahrin, Myntri of Sakwang village and other officers from different departments of SWKHD, the Village Myntri along with students and the public who took part in the Health Mela.

Speaking as Chief Guest on this day, S.C.Laloo, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat cut the ribbon as a mark to inaugurate the Health Mela which was in part to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence and held with an an aim to create public awareness on health in which the goal and expectation of the government is to provide the residents with good health, economic capacity and who can take care and be vigilant about their health so that they can move forward in their daily lives.

The Health Mela was of great benefit to the school students where they made aware on the importance of education in relation to health, food and nutrition and many others such as regular vaccination of children and also for pregnant mothers to come forward and get proper treatment in hospitals or health centres so as to prevent any unfortunate event which may lead to the loss of precious human life.

The function was conducted by A Lyngkhoi, Block Programme Manager, National Health Mission who also presented the status report of Mawkyrwat Block. S.Kharjahrin, Headman of Sakwang delivered the welcome address and P.Nongbsaw, B.E.E delivered the vote of thanks at the Health Mela in Sakwang village, South West Khasi Hills District.
