JJM SCHEME TO BE COMPLETED IN MAWLYNREI BY DECEMBER: PRESTONE

It is of great blessing and happiness for Mawlynrei under Mawryngkneng constituency after the Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong inaugurated the foundation stone for tap water connection in the locality through the Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme to 1,010 houses in the presence also of Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Minister incharge of the PHE Department and Pyniaid Sing Syiem, local MLA, and the expenditure of the scheme is estimated at Rs.8 crores 60 lakhs 54 thousand.

On this day, thousands of residents and school students gathered to witness the inauguration of the foundation stone for tap water connection to the 7,474 residents of the locality.

Pyniaid Sing Syiem said that this village had yearned for years and years for proper tap water connection, and it was only after last year when they met together with the local adminstrators, that this day has materialised with the JJM scheme, and as an MLA, he spoke also on several matters which include the condition of the road, development and necessary requirements of the farmers in Mawlynrei, and also said while we can live without roads but we cannot live without water and without food and therefore the scheme of more than Rs.8 crores 60 lakhs will be started.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that there are more than 7 lakhs households in the urban and rural areas, and about 22% of the JJM Scheme has been completed in the rural areas and the Government has a goal to complete 65% of this scheme in the rural areas.

Furthermore, Tynsong said that as everybody knows the necessity of water, the local residents must cooperate with local administrators and the engineers, and they should not stop them if they need the pipes to go through their residential gates. The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya extended his special gratitude to the family of Smti. Rilod Kharkongor and the family of (L) Dlit Marboh who generously gifted their private land for the water tankers to be instated and for the water pipes to pass through.
