DETAILED DELIBERATIONS ON THE ORDER OF THE HC, ROSTER SYSTEM NOT IMPLEMENTED FOR 50 YEARS: CM

HEADLINES

SHILLONG, April 13: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that the Government has never implemented a roster system for the past 50 years, but have simply followed the reservation policy.

He said that the Government has given due importance to the stay order on recruitment processes by the High Court of Meghalaya in different government departments, and today the Government had a special discussion on this matter at the Cabinet meeting.

The Chief Minister said that because the State has a reservation policy, in the past 50 years, the roster system was never implemented, but it was the present Government which implemented a reservation or roster of 4% for persons with disabilities for recruitment in government departments.

Sangma said that this is an important matter, and the Government will have to study in detail and prepare itself on how to respond to the Court through an affidavit.

It may be pointed her that the High Court of Meghalaya on the 5th of April issued an order that the State Government must stop all recruitment processes in different departments until notified otherwise. The order of the High Court of Meghalaya is over the absence of a roster system specifying the no of vacancies and recruitment as per the reservation policy, and the recruitment process can begin again once the Government has prepared and furnished a roster system.
