Today the local public residents of villages such as Madan Umwang, Sabuda, Jatalong and others came out to express their grave concern with a sit-in demonstration while holding placards on which were inscribed their demands in the presence of the Headman of Sabuda village, Shanroy Mukhim and President of the Seng Samla, Siewdor Khmah.
The local public residents and leaders of the local village administration expressed that the reason which led to their protest is the Assam police personnels stopping them from going to the markets as well as disallowing the sick people in need of medical attention from going to a healthcare facility in this area. The actions of the Assam police gave rise to many problems for the local public residents of these villages.
The local village administrators also expressed their protest over the arrest of 3 persons from Umpaklong village by the Assam police allegedly for being involved in burning and destroying one bridge, but upon visiting the bridge, the local village administrators found no sign or evidence of damages on the bridge as has been alleged by the Assam police.
