MEGHALAYA AND ASSAM SIGN AGREEMENT IN THE PRESENCE OF AMIT SHAH TO RESOLVE BORDER ISSUE

SHILLONG, March 29: The two Chief Ministers, Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam and Conrad Kongkal Sangma of Meghalaya signed the Agreement to resolve the border issue in the presence of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah today the 29th of March in Delhi in which the Chief Ministers were also accompanied by the Chief Secretaries of the two states.

It may be pointed that the two Chief Ministers submitted the resolutions of the two states to Amit Shah for the resolution of the border issue on the 31st of January for a thorough scrutiny by the MHA. As per the report submitted to the Union Home Minister, out of the 36.79 square km of the area in the first phase of the talk, Assam will get 18.51 square km, while Meghalaya will get 18.28 square km.

As per news sources it is said that another meeting has been scheduled with the MHA prior to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Meghalaya and Assam.
