The SSA teachers from across the State under the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association, Central body, today the 2nd of March came out in thousands to the public rally which started from the Parking Lot in Polo.
The teachers expressed their demands and strongly condemned the State Government and the parties in the MDA coalition government following the non-payment of the salaries of 12,541 SSA teachers for 5 consecutive months.
The public rally of the teachers which moved onward alongside the presence of police personnel stopped for a while at MBOSE Office to pass on the information to all present that the Minister in charge of the Home Department and Education Department in Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui has called the leaders of the MSSASA to talk on this issue and from the end of the teachers embittered by the call of the Minister to finally have a talk on the matter, tried to move forward to the Secretariat building but was stopped by the police which led to an exchange of angry words between the teachers and the police, until the time the District Administration intervened and made the leaders of the MSSASA come to an understanding, and they all, with one mind, decided to move on to Malki Ground and wait for the outcome of the meeting with Lahkmen Rymbui.
