He said that the Executive Committee has discussed the non-payment of professional tax and today decided to speed up the process to enable online payment services for the payment of the same so that people can pay the due tax on time for at present there has been a negligence on the part of the traders in paying the tax.

Responding to a query, the CEM said that there are separate modes of payments and it is under ₹2500, and on further queries stated that the overall estimate made by the KHADC accounts for a collection of about ₹14 crores in a year from the professional tax but at present the collection is only about ₹5-6 crores only.

On the other hand, the CEM has urged the people who are required to pay the aforementioned tax to come forward and pay the requisite tax amount so that the operations of the Council will not be affected and also informed that while the preparation for the online payment is underway, they can pay the same tax through the same old methods.
