SHILLONG, January 31: After the bomb blast of Sunday evening which occured at about 6:00 PM, the Police force tirelessly pursued their investigation and after few hours of pursuing the matter, arrested a boy suspected of being involved in last evening’s blast from his residence last night.
As per reports, the boy arrested by the police is about 17 years old and in the search conducted at his residence, materials used in making IED bombs were recovered and seized which included scraps and pieces of iron rods, wires and batteries. The police took the boy into custody to conduct further investigation and catch others involved in the incident.
Last night, after the IED bomb blast in Khyndailad area, the Home Minister of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui informed through a tweet that the persons involved have been identified and expressed also that the police will be able to arrest all those involved in the blast.
It may be pointed here that Improvised Explosive Device(IED) bomb blasts have occured 3 times last year in a matter of a few months, with the first being on the 12th of July, 2021 in the compound of the Police Reserve in Khliehriat,East Jaiñtia Hills, and the second being on the 10th of August, 2021 in Laitumkhrah which resulted in 2 persons being injured and the third being on the 4th of October,2021 where the police recovered one IED bomb placed outside the gate of the NPP office in Shillong.
