HEADLINES

SHILLONG, January 31: After the bomb blast on Sunday evening, Khyndailad area bore a deserted look on Monday morning especially around the area where the blast took place with only the police carrying out their inspection of the area and the people cleaning the damages resulting from the blast. After the area was cleaned, the police allowed the public to continue with their movement through the area and shops were allowed to reopen from 2:30 PM.

During the ongoing inspection, the shop vendors of the area waited around so they could reopen their business but the security forces did not allow them to enter the area where the blast had occured which was outside one shop selling Mobile phones and a part of the Centre Point building. The police had cordoned off the area from Centre Point upto R.B Store so that the Municipal workers and shop owners could clean and gather their damaged goods as well as clean the shattered glass pieces to avoid any injuries to passersby through the area.

Speaking with a few shop vendors, they stated that the bomb blast came as a shock to all of them and has affected them in a major way financially as they were allowed to continue with their businesses only for half a day. They expressed that they are ready to cooperate with the police forces on such incidents to perpetuate the concerned authorities to complete the necessary formalities.

Furthermore, they also expressed that it was fortunate that the incident occured on a Sunday evening which is a day when most shops are closed with very few pedestrians around which resulted in no person being severely injured.
