HEADLINES

SHILLONG, January 28: The BJP MLA from Pynthorumkhrah who is also the former Health Minister in the Government, Alexander Laloo Hek has strongly rebuked the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma for violating the Covid-19 SOP.

He said that it would be better to stop the implementation of protocols if even the Chief of the State cannot respect or follow them, and added that if the Chief Minister himself cannot follow the protocols then how can he expect others to follow them. Furthermore, he questioned if the protocols are only meant for the public and if they do not apply to the Chief Minister,MLAs, Ministers and other high officials. He said that if protocols have been set then they should apply to everyone and not only for a few sections of the public.

Hek said that this act of the Chief Minister is an embarrassment for the Government because it is wrong and discourages the public from following the protocols if the Chief Minister himself is violating them.
