After 3 non-tribals were violently attacked by a few unidentified miscreants at Lumdiengjri area, a group of individuals under the leadership of S.K Choudhury and his wife Kalpana Choudhury on Sunday held a sit-in demonstration outside the old Assembly gate to express their concern and distress over the attack on the 3 persons.

S.K Choudhury said that his decision to hold this sit-in demonstration and hunger strike at the mentioned site is because he is deeply distressed by the chaos and bloodshed between the
Khasis and non-tribals that keep arising from time to time and he has requested for everyone who has a soul with the same blood living in the same State, to thrive towards a conscientious mutual respect for each other irrespective of which community the person belongs to and as an elderly man who resides in Shillong, he is deeply concerned by the bloodshed between the two sides which had caused so much instability in the State for 50 years now.
Agnes Kharshiing and Angela Rangad have expressed that such incidents should not be accepted in society and stated that the government and police forces should take their due responsibility in arresting the culprits involved in the attack and spread the message that as a society and State, such atrocities will not be accepted.
