SADLY IN 50 YEARS ALL THAT THE STATE HAS PRODUCED ARE REPRESENTATIVES WHO PROCLAIM THEMSELVES AS ‘LEADERS’ BUT ACT LIKE ‘DEALERS’

HEADLINES

SHILLONG, January 21 The President of the Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) who is also the MLA of North Shillong constituency, Adelbert Nongrum said that it is the duty of the present generation to do something for the future generations. He said that it is important to discard glorification because Statehood has been achieved but the public continue to seek for their right till now.

Nongrum is in the midst of his 5 days sit-in demonstration at Malki Ground from the 17th of January which will end tomorrow at 10:00 AM, and today he organised a public gathering at the same location where he has been carrying on his demonstration.

Speaking at the gathering, he said that it is sad that as a State that has turned 50 years, the products of the state in all these years have only been representatives who proclaim themselves as ‘leaders’ but are in fact only ‘dealers’ with the single vision for personal profit, who create paths for themselves from one constituency to another constituency, one party to another party and who also shift so frequently from their objectives just to ascertain a seat of power for themselves.

The 5 days demonstration carried out by Nongrum is on the 5 points demand that he had put forth with the Government for realisation, which include a revamp of the reservation policy, age relaxation for applicants in government jobs to atleast 37 years, to have a separate Meghalaya cadre for the group of IAS,IPS, IFS officers, to complete the promise of relocating the residents of Them Ïew Mawlong and the resolution of the border issue with Assam.
