In the morning of the 19th of January at about 5:00 AM, the locality youths of Sajer in Nongpoh Proper managed to nab one youth suspected of looting from houses in Nongpoh and being a drug addict. After this, the locality youths searched the suspect and found two mobile phones from him which he had just stolen from someone’s house.
As per information gathered, the suspect nabbed by the locality youths is identified as Vicky Nongrum, 22 years of age from Marngar and prior to him being caught, he had tried to discreetly enter the house of Gloria Nongsiej in Sajer with the intention to loot the house at around 3:00 AM but fled from this house after the house owners were awakened, but it was only at about quarter to 5 in the morning that this person went and checked on the house again and after he found that everyone was sound asleep, he discreetly entered the house from the kitchen and also entered the bedroom and took away with him the two mobile phones.
While the local village authorities were in the midst of conducting an investigation on this youth, an information was received that a shop in Saw Aiom Arcade Nongpoh was looted of ₹5000 along with cigarettes and other items.
The locality youths were able to nab this thief after he went again to check the same house when everyone was asleep and one of the residents of the house upon sensing the presence of a stranger shouted and called out to people to chase this thief and after the chase by the locality youths, they were able to nab the thief a little further away from the looted house while he was trying to hide and when they searched him, they found two mobile phones which he had stolen from the house and after he was taught a lesson, the local village authorities were informed for further investigation and after that he was handed over to the police authorities of Nongpoh Police Station.
