SHILLONG, January 19: The Health Minister of Meghalaya,James P.K Sangma said that the only way a lockdown can be avoided is if the vaccination rate against Covid-19 touches 100 percent. He said that the Government has to ensure that the people take the vaccine as a preventative measures against the rapid spread of the virus.
On being asked about the rapid rise of Covid positive cases, he asserted that there had been an expectation in the rise of positive cases in the State as the same is witnessed all over the world and in India as well.
The Minister stated that the Government is tirelessly working towards creating an awareness amongst the public especially so the citizens strictly follow the precautionary measures so that severe illness from the virus can be prevented.
Sangma said that the department has been busy in creating awareness and if people are in doubt that they may have been infected with the virus, they must isolate themself as a measure to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
