GOVERNMENT DISCUSS UPPER AGE LIMIT FOR APPLICANTS IN GOVERNMENT JOBS, MIGHT INCREASE IT TO 37 YEARS

HEADLINES

SHILLONG, January 17: The Cabinet Ministers have closely examined and discussed the matter relating to the increase in the upper age limit for applicants in government jobs, by increasing it to 37 years from the current norm of 32 years, but a final decision on the matter is yet to be taken as other aspects have to be taken into account as well.

Speaking with media persons after the meeting, Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said that the Government has deferred the decision on the matter to another Cabinet meeting and the reason for not arriving at a final decision yet is due to certain parts pertaining especially to the recruitment in the Police Department and other departments which require personnel to wear a uniform such as the Home Guard & Civil Defence, Forest Guard, and Excise.
