The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council( HYC), West Khasi Hills District, today met with K.P Pangngiang, President of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), in part to urge the leader to remind the MDA Government, in which the party is also a coalition partner, to rightfully honour (L) ‘Maïeid’ Hopingstone Lyngdoh Nonglait as one of the great personalities of the community and the state as a whole.
With regards to this matter, the HYC also submitted a petition to the President of the HSPDP.
K.P Pangngiang stated that this is very much a prioritised matter, a goal that has been set by the HSPDP and he is happy that the youths have also come up with the important suggestion.
It may be briefly reminded that (L) ‘Maïeid’ Hopingstone Lyngdoh Nonglait besides having been an M.P, M.L.A and M.D.C, had also established about more than 1800 primary schools in the Khasi Hills during the time when he was the EM I/C Primary Education,a leader who was loved and trusted by the people, a braveheart, a warrior who fought tirelessly against Uranium mining and a protector of the people who reside in the inter-state border areas with Assam and one of the leaders who led the struggle towards the achievement of a full-fledged state.
