SHILLONG, October 07: The Police Department of East Khasi Hills District, on Wednesday night arrested a person on suspicion of involvement in the IED bomb blast incident in Laitumkhrah on the 10th of August this year and also in planting the IED bomb outside the office of the NPP in Lower Lachumiere on the 4th of October.
As per reports, it was informed that one person from Umphyrnai under Madanrting Police Station, was arrested by the police for questioning yesterday night on suspicion of involvement in the planting of IED bombs in Shillong.
After the bomb blast in Laitumkhrah, East Khasi Hills Police had arrested 3 persons on suspicion of involvement in the incident that injured 2 civilians and so far the police has arrested 4 persons on suspicion of involvement in planting the IED bomb by arresting one more yesterday night.
The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma has confirmed the arrest of one person by the police and he also informed that the arrested person has confessed of his involvement in planting an IED bomb outside the office of the NPP and that the investigation is moving forward. He also said that the police through the investigation process, have been able to gather more links to other people involved in the planting of bombs in Shillong recently.
On the matter of security in Meghalaya, Conrad said that the peace and security in the State is fine but the government is taking the recent incidents very seriously and the police from their end are also working to their best effort to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future.
