SHILLONG, Risaw 04: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement(KHNAM) announced a candidate for the 13-Mawryngkneng constituency by-election scheduled for the 30th of this month.
President of KHNAM and MLA of North Shillong, Shri Adelbert Nongrum today announced Shri Esron Marweiñ as candidate from the party for Mawryngkneng. As President of KHNAM, Nongrum also welcomed him in a ceremony where he handed the party to him.
Adelbert Nongrum said that after meetings and deliberations on the foundation of KHNAM, it was agreed to field a candidate in the upcoming election especially due to the deplorable condition of the state that seem to worsen with each passing day while asserting also that even as the state moves towards 50 years of statehood, there has not been much of development in the true sense.
With regards to Mawphlang constituency, Adelbert Nongrum said that talks are in progress with the prospective candidate and once certain formalities are completed the name of the candidate will be announced in a couple of days.
It may be pointed that Shri. Esron Marweiñ is a volunteer who has worked for the benefits of the farmers. Apart from this, he is also the former President of the PDF party in Mawryngkneng as well as the former General Secretary of National People’s Party Youth Front (NPYF), a youth wing of the NPP party.
