Shillong : Prof (Dr.) Nalin Mehta, Director of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, NEIGRIHMS has set a target for himself which includes to work towards focusing and solving all the inadequacies that are at the forefront of the health facility-cum-institute of the state.
While talking to mediapersons, Mehta has expressed that as of now, the major inadequacy of the health care facility is the lack of staffs in all departments, and the first goal for him is to start the process of employing more staffs in the months to come.
The second goal that Mehta has marked for himself is the completion of building constructions especially the Regional Cancer Centre to be followed by the others which have been stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Talking further on the Regional Cancer Centre, Mehta said that the construction work has begun to move forward again.
Mehta took over as Director of NEIGRIHMS on the 11th of September and before taking charge of this office,had been a Professor of Physiology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), New Delhi.
The most significant and perhaps difficult time of his career were the 16 months of being a member of the group of researchers, the 12th Indian Scientific Expedition Research Base- Maitri- in Antarctica from December, 1994 to April 1994.
