Shillong: The Central Executive Committee meeting of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party which was held today the Tuesday of the week, took a decision to erect a bust of the founder and great leader of the community Late Hopingstone Lyngdoh fondly called ‘Maieid’ at Mawphanlur, West Khasi Hills District, said K.P.Pangiang, President of the HSPDP while speaking with media persons today afternoon also in the presence of Martle N.Mukhim, Vice President.
The party has decided to inaugurate the bust of Late Hopingstone Lyngdoh on his 7th Death Anniversary that is on the 26th of September.
The reason which led the party to take this step is to keep alive the memory of the great leader in years to come as the State crossed the milestone of 50 Years of Statehood and as the party has continued for upto 54 years.
Besides this, at the meeting it was also decided that the preperation and finalisation be hastened so that the manifesto can be released soon in part to prepare for the MLA Election in 2023.
In this meeting as a party which has sat and worked on this matter, it was decided that tentatively by the first week of October, the HSPDP will be prepared to release the manifesto, in which some parts the party has kept the issues unchanged while in some other parts, changes have been introduced to be incorporated.
On the matter to stand for the demand of a separate Khasi-Jaintia State, Pangniang said this issue is still alive and will continue to be alive and stay on.
