Shillong: The President of the Hill State People Democratic Party, K.P Pangniang said that in the Central Executive Committee meeting of the party, which was held today the Tuesday of the week, the party resolved that it does not agree to the plan of the Government to set a casino in the areas of Khanapara in Ri-Bhoi District.
Speaking with media persons, Pangniang said that the resolution taken by the party to oppose the plan is irrespective of it being a partner in the coalition Government which intends to implement the Meghalaya Gaming Act, 2021.
Clarifying on this matter to oppose, Pangniang feels the need to express that the party it is not time yet for the State to encourage gambling or implement this act.
Apart from this, Pangniang said that at the time of the Co-ordination Committee meeting of the MDA in the presence also of the Chief Minister and fellow leaders from other parties, the HSPDP had stated that it neither agrees nor approve for the Act to be implemented.
