Gambegre By-Election: Fight between NPP and TMC as Congress lacks ‘future’, says Rakkam

HEADLINES

National People’s Party (NPP) MLA and Minister, Rakkam A Sangma, has stated that the upcoming Gambegre by-election is primarily a contest between the NPP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Sangma expressed confidence in the support for his party, highlighting the positive response from local communities during his campaign visits.

“Election is election, but as of now, the contest seems to be only between the NPP and TMC… because politicians always know what is happening,” he remarked.

When questioned about the Congress Party’s involvement, particularly since Gambegre was previously represented by Congress leader Saleng Sangma, Rakkam dismissed their relevance. He noted that with three of the Congress MLAs joining the ruling NPP, the Congress has been left weakened and is no longer a significant contender in the region.

“Congress does not have a future, and with the NPP gaining strength, we have a better edge over other parties in winning the Gambegre by-election,” he added.
