Ex-president of Seng Khasi Kmie (SKK) Banteilang Singh Rumnong Passes Away at 60, Cremation on Thursday

Shillong, April 28: Former president of Seng Khasi Kmie (SKK), Banteilang Singh Rumnong, passed away on Tuesday morning at Super Care Hospital following a brief illness. He was 60.

He is survived by his wife, Junemonlin Jana, and four children. His mortal remains have been taken to his residence at Jaiaw Langsning, with the cremation scheduled to be held on Thursday at the Jaiaw cremation ground at 2 PM.

Rumnong, son of former MLA Maham Singh, was widely respected for his contributions to rural development during his tenure as Deputy Director of the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD). He completed his M.Sc. in Agriculture from Assam Agricultural University in 1992.

A prominent figure in the Seng Khasi community, he was known for his commitment to preserving Khasi culture, religion, and traditional values. He also served as vice president of SKK at the time of his demise.

The SKK held a condolence meeting at Mawkhar, where members paid tribute to his contributions. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed grief, recalling his dedicated service to society and the community.
