Deputy Chief Minister in charge of District Council Affairs (DCA), Prestone Tynsong, stated that the government will announce the election for the district councils after receiving the Governor’s approval of the Amendment Bills related to the reorganization of constituencies in KHADC and JHADC.
When asked today, Prestone Tynsong informed that the DCA department has received the two Amendment Bills approved by both Autonomous District Councils and will soon send them to the Governor for approval. Once that is done, the government will decide on the timing of the MDC elections.
It is worth noting that the current term of MDCs in KHADC and JHADC was extended by six months, which will end on September 5, due to the need to reorganize constituencies. According to reports, the government might extend the term by another six months, but this has not been confirmed, as both ADCs have already passed the Amendment Bills and sent them for the Governor’s approval.
