The Meghalaya Congress has outrightly rejected the demand of the BJP Meghalaya seeking an apology over alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother during a recent Congress rally in Bihar.
Earlier in the day, BJP workers staged a protest outside the Congress Bhawan in Shillong, carrying placards to denounce the remarks made by Congress leaders in Bihar.
Speaking to the press, Manuel Badwar of the Congress said the BJP’s protest was nothing more than an act of desperation, claiming the party was aware that the people of Bihar were set to reject it in the upcoming elections. He further added that Rahul Gandhi stood as a leader who understood and worked for the future of the nation, while the BJP’s placard protest in Shillong only showed that people across India had turned away from the saffron party.
Badwar also alleged that the BJP in Meghalaya was merely trying to impress its central leadership in Delhi through such actions.
