Shillong: Amid ongoing tensions in the region, the A•chik Baptist Dal•gipa Krima No. IV has urged residents to join a special prayer service to restore peace and harmony in Garo Hills.
In a statement, the association called on people to come together in prayer, stressing the need for unity, compassion and mutual understanding during this difficult time. It also appealed to the public to pray for those affected by the recent unrest and for authorities working to restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, the Mother’s Union Tura urged the public to refrain from vandalism and other unlawful activities, stating that violence will not bring any positive outcome.
The group also noted that the election to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) has been postponed, providing time for due process and discussions on election-related issues and appealed to citizens to work together to restore peace in the region.
