CCTV footage has revealed that three unidentified youths were involved in the petrol bomb attack on the office of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) in Shillong.
According to CCTV footage from the area, the three youths arrived at the MSPCB office at around 12:30 pm on Monday. The footage shows them dressed in black clothing with their faces completely covered to conceal their identities.
Two of the suspects entered the MSPCB premises while the third remained outside, apparently acting as a lookout. After spending about two minutes inside the compound, the two youths hurled two petrol bombs at the office before all three fled the scene.
The attack comes just three days after the MSPCB conducted the public hearing for Shree Cement Private Limited at Lum Syrman, Elaka Nongkhlieh, East Jaiñtia Hills district.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining the CCTV footage to identify those responsible. At this stage, the motive behind the attack has not been officially established.
