The Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to field candidates in the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), scheduled to be held in February 2025.
Speaking to the media, BJP spokesperson Mariahom Kharkhrang announced that the party has set December 30, 2024, as the last date for submitting applications for those interested in contesting the MDC elections under the BJP banner.
According to Kharkhrang, the BJP plans to contest in several constituencies across both district councils. He also noted that this is not the first time the party will be contesting the MDC elections, as it had participated in previous terms as well.
The BJP’s move to participate extensively in the KHADC and JHADC elections signals its intent to strengthen its presence in the region.
