Shillong: The state government has issued a notice to the chairman and members of the Green Tech Foundation (GTF), alleging that they violated the law while attempting to march towards the Secretariat gate.
GTF General Secretary, Retre Lyngdoh said the government has invoked three charges against the organisation’s leaders, including obstructing officials from carrying out their duties, causing inconvenience to the public and unlawful assembly at the site on that day.
He, however, strongly denied the allegations, stating that the leaders of the organisation did not violate any law. Lyngdoh said only two to three members had gone to the spot that day, in respect of the law.
He further said that an FIR has been lodged against them by the government authorities.
Meanwhile, GTF chairman H. Bansiewdor Nonglang has continued his indefinite hunger strike, which entered its eighth consecutive day, demanding the cancellation of the government’s proposed project at Lumpongdeng in Umiam.
