Shillong: As part of the Government of India’s Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign, Saindur Enviro, Shillong, organized a large-scale cleaning drive on September 27, 2024, with the theme “Our Country, Our Environment, Our Responsibility.” The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from 150 NCC cadets, along with representatives from Saindur Enviro, who came together to clean the Mawlyndep locality near Umiam Lake.
Cadets from 61 Megh Girls BN, KV Nepa, Umroi Cantt., and Union Christian College took part in the drive, accompanied by officers and instructors from their respective institutions. The team focused on removing litter, plastic waste, and pollutants, including medical waste, as part of efforts to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility in line with the Swachhata Hi Seva mission.
The event highlighted the importance of public involvement in maintaining a clean environment. Mr. Vivek Kumar, Director of Saindur Enviro Pvt. Ltd., said, “This cleaning drive is just the beginning. Our country, our environment, and our responsibility is more than just a slogan—it’s a call to action for every individual.”
Lt. Phida K. Syntiew from Union Christian College praised the cadets for their dedication, stating, “Through their teamwork, the cadets have set an inspiring example of how we can all contribute to protecting our environment.”
This event marked another milestone in Saindur Enviro’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and public awareness. The organization remains dedicated to supporting the Swachhata Hi Seva mission and fostering a culture of cleanliness.
