Jagadguru Shankaracharya, a self-proclaimed leader advocating for declaring cows as the “Mother of the Nation,” was unable to land at Umroi Airport near Shillong and was forced to wave his cow flag from the aircraft.
In a video, the Jagadguru, who campaigns against the consumption of beef, expressed pride in flying over Meghalaya and raising the cow flag in the skies, despite not being allowed to land.
The religious leader intended to arrive in Shillong today, but his plans were thwarted by government restrictions and public opposition led by local organizations. His group had previously announced a cow flag rally in Shillong on October 2, but it remains unclear why the Jagadguru attempted to arrive early on September 28, a Saturday.
