Vincent H Pala, President of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), revealed that he intended to resign from his position after losing in the MLA election last year. However, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) did not accept his resignation. Even after his recent defeat in the MP election, Pala, along with other MPCC leaders, went to Delhi to request his release from the role of President, but the AICC again insisted that he continue in the position.
Speaking to the media, Pala mentioned that he was not elected as President but was placed in the position by the AICC, which believes that if he resigns, the party will decline further. He stated that there has been no significant opposition to his leadership within the party, but those who left the party have made critical comments, possibly influenced by others.
Pala also claimed that many former Congress leaders who left the party are now expressing a desire to return, realizing that the Congress remains the best option.
