Employees of the MCCL under the banner of Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited Employees Union, have started fresh agitations from this week in Shillong to demand payment of pending dues and to restart operation of the government cement factory.

Titosstarwell Chyne who is also the former MLA of Sohra today met with the MCCL employees on strike at the location where they were protesting.

Speaking at the brief meeting held in front of the MCCL office in Lachumiere, Chyne strongly criticised the Government for its failure in running one factory while questioning how then can it run the State? He also said that the inefficiencies are because of the administrators.

On the proposed Joint Venture with the private sector to start operation of the factory again, Chyne put forth a question seeking to know what the Government is doing because the employees are made to wait time and again and also demanded that the Government must think about the employees and it cannot just keep saying that it will pay their dues once the Joint Venture starts because till now it is unsure when the venture will start.

On the other hand, the UDP MDC from Sohra informed that on Monday of this coming week, along with the MLA of Shella, they will meet the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma for clarification on this matter.
