NEHUSU President Sandy Sohtun stated that the State and Central Governments should immediately call for the removal of the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, only then will they consider taking any further course of action.
Speaking on Wednesday, Sandy highlighted that the Order was issued by AR Planning— a task that should have been handled by the Registrar—indicating, in his view, that the Vice Chancellor has lost authority.
Sandy said that the students are not focused on the appointment of Pro Vice-Chancellors; instead, they want the Vice Chancellor to step down first. He urged everyone not to participate in any meetings led by Prof. Shukla, reinforcing that the students, faculty, and staff have all lost confidence in his leadership.
The student strike at NEHU has now stretched to over 200 hours.
