Prof. Lakhon Kma has criticized the recent announcement of the appointments for the two Pro Vice-Chancellors of the Shillong and Tura campuses, calling it a calculated move by Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla to divert attention from the ongoing protests.
According to Prof. Kma, the timing of the announcement appears to be an attempt to shift focus away from the concerns raised by students and faculty.
Prof. Kma suggested that the VC made these recent appointments only after realizing he was in a critical situation. He added that if the two newly appointed Pro VCs assume their positions, it will feel like a betrayal to both teachers and students.
The Vice Chancellor appointed Prof. S.M. Sungoh from the Department of Education as Pro VC of the Shillong Campus, and Prof. F.K. Marak from the Department of Garo as Pro VC of the Tura Campus.
