SHILLONG, May 24: The Minister incharge of the PWD(Building) in the State, Dasakhiatbha Lamare said that as per regulations, sub-contracts can be granted to others for any part of the construction under the supervision of the Department.
On the 23rd of May, the Congress party expressed shock over a sub-contract being granted to Badri Rai and Company Ltd to construct the new Assembly building because the BRC Ltd was already rejected at the call for tender stage.
The construction work of the new Assembly building was granted to be carried forward by a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) from Uttar Pradesh, Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd, and Lamare informed that in this project, sub-contract can be granted for upto 40% of the work, which was granted to Badri Rai and Company Ltd.
