United Democratic Party has refused to have any election alliance with other parties for the upcoming by-election in 3 constituencies scheduled for the 30th of October except for Mawphlang where it shall have the support of the Hill State Peoples Democratic Party(HSPDP) which is also part of the Regional Democratic Alliance along with UDP.
Talking to mediapersons, UDP President, Shri Metbah Lyngdoh has said that the party does not have any alliance for the by-election but except for Mawphlang where HSPDP will not field any candidate. While in Mawryngkneng, UDP will decide on a candidate most probably by tomorrow. For Rajabala, he said that there has not been any talks with NPP to work together while also informing that several potential candidates have expressed their wishes to contest for Rajabala constituency on a UDP ticket.
Shri Metbah Lyngdoh also said that there has not been any talks about fielding a common candidate from the MDA coalition in the by-election while expressing utmost confidence that UDP will win Mawphlang.
General Secretary of HSPDP, Shri Renikton L. Tongkhar has said that his party is happy to extend its support to Eugeneson Lyngdoh for Mawphlang and shall work collectively with RDA in Mawryngkneng as well
