Shillong, June 21: Dr.D.D.Lapang who is the Chief Adviser of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government said that the lack of a CM from amongst the Khasis and Jaiñtias is because there are too many leaders.
He said that he does not want to be bias or to discriminate but since the time of Captain Williamson Sangma, he led the Hill State Movement till the Hill State was achieved.
He said that there are many reasons for the failure of the Khasis and Jaiñtias in producing a Chief Minister because from amongst the Khasis and Jaiñtias there are too many leaders and many also win the election therefore it is difficult to choose a leader because they hardly consult with one another on the matter while in Garo Hills even though there are many victorious candidates in the election irrespective of the party, the leader is always just one.
Dr.D.D.Lapang who is also a former Chief Minister of Meghalaya said that if there is unity in the Khasi-Jaiñtia Hills it is very easy to get a Chief Minister however as it is evident it is quite difficult to achieve unity due to the existence of many political parties and the allegiance is towards their respective party objective and perhaps from here onwards too the case will be the case as it is now.
