The Minister for Power in Meghalaya, AT Mondal, has highlighted a significant surge in electricity consumption during the New Year celebrations, which occasionally poses challenges for the department to anticipate and manage power demands.
Speaking today, Mondal assured that the state government has made preemptive arrangements to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the ongoing examination season for students across the state. However, he cautioned that unforeseen disruptions may still occur despite these efforts.
The minister further stated that the government is committed to preventing any scheduled power outages but acknowledged that brief interruptions might occur during maintenance or repairs in case of technical issues. He emphasized that the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) is proactive in ensuring the reliability of power distribution and promptly addresses disruptions to restore services swiftly.
