SHILLONG, May 19: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong denied having an enquiry of any sort over the allegation of shoddy work and corruption in the construction of the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT), which showed were revealed by the forces of nature, because after the heavy rain,cracks appeared on the building with water leaking from them.
On being queried today, Tynsong said that the Government will dig deep into the reasons but no enquiry will be constituted, and the PWD (Building) will have to look into the defects by constructing and repairing the building well.
He upheld that no action can be taken against the contractor who was assigned the ISBT project because at the time when the building was being constructed, the engineers and the SDOs were also there, and further stated that the bill for the project was also released after the building was examined by the officers and the engineers, and if anyone is to be punished then it is the government officials.
