Shillong: Cabinet Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) leader, Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh, stated that the party remains committed to advising the government to proceed with the crucial peace talks process with the banned military outfit Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Dr. Ampareen said that even though there are certain “displeasures” and “misunderstandings” that have yet to be verified.
Informing that the Deputy Chief Minister in charge of the Home Department is currently indisposed and unable to attend to the matter.
The Minister also assured that as the party and the government are committed to the progression of the peace talks with the particular banned outfit, they would like to see an amicable understanding for long-term peace talks.
It may be noted that the HNLC has withdrawn from the tripartite peace talks with the Centre and State governments but only plans to resume if the government reconsider “amnesty” for all the cadres.
