Shillong: The East Khasi Hills Police have imposed traffic restrictions and diversions in Upper Shillong’s 101 Area due to ongoing construction along the Shillong–Dawki Road near Mahadev Khola Dham.
Trucks, including 407, 409 and commercial/bazaar vehicles, will be diverted from 5th Mile, Upper Shillong, towards Shillong Peak Road–Pomlakrai, and from MES (Rilbong) point via Anjalee Point–Barik Point–Dhankheti–Fire Brigade Point–Madanrting–Laitkor–Pomlakrai.
All heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) from Nongstoin and Mawngap will be diverted at Mawmaram junction towards Lawmei–Umsaw Road, while HMVs coming from Sohra and Pynursla will be diverted at 7th Mile, Upper Shillong, towards Mawngap–Mawmaram.
However, buses ferrying schoolchildren will be allowed to ply towards the MES point from Upper Shillong and vice versa.
The police have also imposed a 20 kmph speed limit for all vehicles across the 101 Area. The restrictions will remain in force from February 3 to February 18, 2026. Authorities have regretted the inconvenience caused to the public.
