MFA Issues Directive to Regulate Unauthorised Football Tournaments in Meghalaya

HEADLINES

Shillong: The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA), acting on the directive of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), has issued strict guidelines to regulate unauthorised and unregistered “bosti” football tournaments across the state.

In its Executive Committee decision, the MFA made it mandatory for organisers of such tournaments to obtain prior permission from their respective district associations, which will then forward the applications for final approval by the MFA.

The association has warned of stern action against organisers who defy the directive. Players registered under the AIFF’s Central Registration System (CRS) and those affiliated with MFA units who participate in unauthorised tournaments risk fines and suspension. Similar disciplinary measures will also apply to referees and match officials who officiate in such events without approval.

The MFA has urged organisers, players, referees and officials to follow due procedures, stressing that the move is aimed at ensuring fair, transparent, and regulated football activity in line with AIFF rules and governance.
