Shillong: The Central Puja Committee’s (CPC) much-loved Annual Drum-Beat Competition, a highlight of the Durga Puja festivities in the city, will be held on September 30, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. onwards at Sarojini Naidu Girls Upper Primary School, Lane No. 14, R.R. Colony, Shillong. This year, the event is being hosted by the R.R. Colony Saradiya Utsav Samiti.
The competition will see participants vying in two categories—Individual and Group. Apart from medals and cash prizes, the winning group will be honoured with the prestigious “Shiv Kumar Memorial Running Trophy,” donated by Shri Ajay Agarwal of Lama Villa, Shillong, in loving memory of his late father, Shri Shiv Kumar Agarwal.
As the beats of the dhak resonate through Shillong, the competition not only showcases rhythm and talent but also captures the festive spirit of Durga Puja, which is already vibrant across the city. The annual event remains one of the most anticipated cultural highlights, drawing enthusiastic participation and large audiences who gather to celebrate tradition and festivity together.
