Shillong: Meghalaya’s athletics team delivered an outstanding performance at the 35th East Zone Junior Athletics Championship in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from October 7 to 9, securing a total of four medals.
The state’s athletes won a gold medal in the Mixed Relay race, completing the race in 3:48.45 minutes. The team was represented by Donbok Shabong, Renaldi Dhar, Bethylene G Makri, and Damika R Lyngdoh.
Rikangku D Sangma earned a silver medal in the U-14 Boys’ Javelin Throw with a distance of 52.35 meters, while Anrisha Klein claimed silver in the U-20 Women’s High Jump with a height of 1.53 meters. Rinalis Ingti added a bronze medal in the same event with a jump of 1.50 meters.
The team returns home with 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze, making the state proud with their accomplishments.
